Casa dei Fiori at Borgo I Vicelli

Casa dei Fiori is a lovely, luxurious villa on two floors. It is located in the main building of the Borgo i Vicelli property. Outside the villa there is a table with chairs to dine al fresco, and a couple of comfortable wicker chairs for relaxing.
Several grey Italian sandstone steps lead up to the entrance. Inside there is a kitchen with dining area. The room is simply equipped with gas hobs and a fridge with freezer. The sink is a traditional Tuscan sandstone sink. In the centre of the room is a large wooden dining table with a bench and some chairs. To one side is a large typical fireplace.
Through an arch from the kitchen is a simple sitting room, furnished with a comfortable sofa that seats three people. This room, like all the others in the villa, has a cooling and heating unit.
Stairs lead to a small hall off which there are two bedrooms. The first is a large double bedroom tastefully decorated with a large three door wardrobe and a table with chair in one corner. There are typical terracotta floors.
Continuing down the corridor is a beautiful, blue bathroom with large shower that has both a shower head and a handheld shower. Next to the bathroom, up five steps is a second double bedroom which has a pretty decorative canopy bed, wardrobe and a table with a couple of chairs.
The first floor is accessed from the stairs from the sitting room, these lead to a landing with a wooden floor, which is found throughout the first floor. This area is furnished with two armchairs, perfect as a second, smaller lounge. On either side is a bedroom.
One is a twin room with two large (one and a half size) twin beds. The room has an armchair. There is a spacious walk-in wardrobe. The bathroom is en-suite and has a large shower with fixed head and a handheld shower.
The second bedroom is a lovely room with a double bed with a wooden headboard. In the room there is a writing desk with chair. To one side is a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom with shower.
The outside area is part of a gravel communal area of the Borgo i Vicelli gardens.
There is limited storage space in the simple kitchen.
Air-conditioning is included.

Borgo i Vicelli is a lovingly restored Tuscan hamlet only 14km away from Central Florence. It is composed of 6 villas in 2 buildings, plus the owner's villa.
Behind the owner's villa is the fenced pool, surrounded by a pretty
lawn with sun-beds. Over the hedge is a lovely view of the Florentine
hills dotted with olive groves and vineyards. Next to the pool is a
kitchen/dining room and games room.
The property is surrounded by olive groves and from several areas there are wonferful views of the Tuscan countryside. The three hamlet buildings snuggle around a large semi paved courtyard. Below one of the buildings is a covered dining area for communal use, this is furnished with a wooden table with iron chairs and a wooden bench. To one side is stone sink and to the back is a pizza oven. On advance request pizza and theme evenings can be organised.
In the larger building, partly below ground level is a small wellness centre which is composed of a relax area, sauna and a large Jacuzzi. There is a shower here.
Excellent access to Florence, the 'outlet' stores and the Chianti. It's easily accessible from Exit Firenze Sud of the A1 Motorway given its proximity, the later can sometimes make the property not completely silent. The owner uses his villa occasionally, they are not permenant residents.
Pool Info
The pool is located in the gardens behind the owner's villa. It's not visible from the rental villas. It's completely fenced and surrounded by a hedge, however the windows of the owner's villa overlooks the pool area. They are not present at the property much, although when they're there they may also use the pool.
The large pool has lanes marked in it. It's surrounded by comfortable sun beds in a beautiful lawn dotted with olive trees. It's the perfect place to enjoy the views of the hills around Florence. The pool is 18x9 metres and open from May to October.
To one side of the pool, below the owner's villa is a loggia providing shade. It is furnished with a couple of tables and chairs. Passing through some wooden doors are some communal rooms which include a sitting area and a games room. In the games room is a billiard table and a table football. These rooms are accessible only during the opening hours of the swimming pool, which are: from 10.00 to 19.30.
Nearest town
The nearest town is San Donato in Colline, which is about 2km away from the property. It has several amenities including a small shop, bar/caffé and a restaurant.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
