Casa Cerralta, is set on a small hilltop surrounded by trees, within in the national park of Val D’Orcia a UNESCO world heritage site. The villa is in a fantastic position surrounded by brunello vineyards with wonderful views over farmland and the Tuscan countryside. This is the perfect getaway for large families or groups of friends wishing to holiday together in a peaceful location. With Casa Cerralta you have the best of both worlds, with a secluded position, yet the town of Torrenieri is only 5km away and here there is a variety of shops, banks, supermarkets, and a choice of restaurants.
The salt water swimming pool is located across the courtyard, down a flight of stone steps. This is a lovely private area, part walled and surrounded by mature hedging. There is plenty of poolside furniture to relax in, as well as a covered gazebo with table and chairs, should you wish to shelter from the sun. The swimming pool is rectangular in shape and is accessed via a ladder at one end.
The property is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs and has large attractive iron gates with a small drive leading to a courtyard.
At the far end of the courtyard there is a covered area with a large dining table and chairs for eight people, guests also have use of a brick barbeque which is next to the outside staircase to the upper kitchen.
There is a further paved patio area with table and chairs. This spot has great views over the countryside as well as the pool area.
The main entrance leads from the courtyard into a large hallway with the traditional terracotta tiled floor and beamed and tiled ceilings.
To the left of the entrance door is the internal staircase to the first floor, directly ahead is the ground floor (2nd) kitchen, which has fitted cupboards, a large built in gas hob, microwave oven and free standing fridge/freezer, to one side is a wooden table and chairs. Next to the kitchen is the downstairs bathroom with shower, hand basin and WC.
To the right of the entrance hall is a large brick archway that leads into the lounge. This is a huge room with four brick columns in the centre. There are various seating areas with comfortable sofas and armchairs.
In one corner is a large wooden dining table with eight chairs, there is also a second smaller wooden table and chairs. The main feature of the room is the large brick built open fireplace; to the left of the fireplace are large arched double doors which open out onto the courtyard.
There are several ways of accessing the first floor; there is the internal staircase from the main entrance hall, also outside there are two sets of external stairs one leads directly into another kitchen and the second leads up to the balcony of the master bedroom. At the top of the internal stairs is a small area with a sofa, writing desk and chair, this is a good place to curl up with a book to escape the heat of the day.
From here you have access to a tiled and beamed corridor off of which a series of doors open into five of the seven bedrooms. There is one twin bedroom and four double bedded rooms, the Master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and a large balcony with fabulous views over the countryside.
There are two bathrooms with showers, one of which is an open shower. All the bedrooms have terracotta tiled floors, high beamed ceilings and windows with views of the countryside.
All are attractively furnished with matching wardrobes, chest of drawers and side tables. The twin bedded room and two of the double bedrooms also have single sofa beds, which is ideal for families with a younger child, wanting to share.
The upstairs kitchen is very well equipped with an oven, gas hobs, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. To the left of the kitchen is the flight of stairs leading up from the courtyard.
The lounge area is through a brick archway and has a large open fireplace with two armchairs in front of it. To the right of the fireplace is a large wooden dining table with eight chairs. There is also a TV with some satellite channels and a DVD player.
To the right of the fireplace a door leads to a further two bedrooms, both have double beds, and as with the other bedrooms, both these rooms have terracotta tiled floors, high beamed ceilings and windows with views of the countryside.
Both are well furnished with matching wardrobes, chest of drawers and side tables, one of the rooms also has a single sofa bed. In between the two bedrooms is a large modern bathroom with full sized bath and hand held shower.
There is a leisure/games room, which includes a billiard table and a table football, on the ground floor together with a waiting room that guests can use for check-in and check-out if they arrive/depart at inconvenient times.
This is a fantastic villa for large groups of family or friends wanting to holiday together.
Virtually every window has far reaching views across the surrounding farmland and the Tuscan hillside.

Pool Info
The private pool area has a paved surround leading to a lawn area planted with mature trees. Poolside, there are plenty of sun loungers and parasols, as well as a covered gazebo with table and chairs. The pool is accessed via a metal ladder at the shallow end.
The salt water swimming pool measures 12 metres by 6 metres, and has a depth of 1 metre increasing to 2.4 metres at the deep end where there is a diving board. Bathroom facilities - toilet and shower - are provided at the poolside. The pool is open from mid May to end of September.
Nearest town
Torrenieri is 5km from the villa. This is a small town with some shops: baker, post office, grocery, pharmacy, bank and a petrol station. Montalcino is 12Km away and this is a typical Tuscan town with several shops, restaurants and other amenities.

What were the highlights of your holiday? We especially enjoyed visiting the various Hill Towns of Tuscany and experiencing the local foods and traditions. When not visiting the Hill Towns we enjoyed just "hanging out" at the Villa. The Villa owners arranged for a chef to cook us an evening meal featuring local foods and specialties--it was delicious!
What was your overall impression of the accommodation? Our Fall vacation at Casa Cerralta was wonderful. Our Villa was clean and cheerful: modern enough to provide the conveniences of everyday living while maintaining the spirit and ambiance of Tuscany. Our visit there was peaceful and tranquil; the vista is magnificent. And while our adult children took many day trips to various larger cities in Central Italy, we preferred to absorb the culture and beauty of Montalcino very often just reading by the pool or walking along the vineyards at the villa.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? No unpleasant surprises. I would encourage anyone visiting Tuscany for the first time to invest in a GPS system with European maps. For those of us with little knowledge of Italian, it was invaluable.
Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service? I cannot say enough regarding the Villa owners. They were exceptionally responsive to our needs without being intrusive during our visit. They made us feel like "old friends". We will certain return to Tuscany and hopefully stay at Casa Cerralta again.

Overall impression: It is a wonderful house in lovely, overimpressing surroundings. The rooms are spacious furnished, great with everything you need. The owners are very helpful and friendly.
Highlights: The great view around the house. Everything is quick taken by car (all sightseeing)! We’ll come back, because it would be like coming home.

Thank you for such lovely accommodations. The villa was everything we expected and more !! We met the owners who were lovely and they helped us to arrange a chef and a wonderful meal !! We absolutely enjoyed it and hope to return very very very soon!
Two things I should mention - The directions could use a few more landmark indicators such as the Wood Factory that you literally have to drive through the side parking lot to reach the Gravel road and Laos it would help to say it is on the same hill as the Azienda/Vineyard Renieri... (but to turn Left at all junctures once on the gravel road.)
The other item is that there actually was a phone. It would have been nice to know this so we could have arranged to have calling cards. One person did and had no trouble after dialing a local connection number... the rest of us had assumed there was no phone.[To Tuscany's comment: it is specified under the FAQ section that there is a phone in the house to receive calls and to make local calls].
But please, I only offer these as a friendly suggestions since the overwhelming response to this villa and our stay was absolutely fabulous...

Overall impression: The website did not do this beautiful house justice. We have had an amazing holiday here. Every room is so spacious and so beautifully furnished. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and helpful without being inhibiting or intrusive.

What is the cost of the dinners?
The owner can provide dinners at various prices. The chef service is carried out by a chef not employed in the property and must be requested at least 5 days in advance. (The owners act as intermediaries, free of any other charge, only to put the guests in contact with the chef.) When you request this service please also confirm the selected menu, the number of people (minimum 10) and time you wish to eat. The service’s availability depends on the chef’s previous engagements. The service includes the shopping for the necessary food items, the chef’s trip to the villa and the preparation of the meal. All menus include at least 1 Starter, 1 first course, 1 second course with 1 side dish and 1 dessert. Drinks are included (mineral water – 0,5L/person – and village wine – 0,25L/person). The menus will be typically Tuscan based on available local produce. The waiter service is not included. On arrival you can be provided with further information.

Are linen and towels provided or do I need to bring my own?
Yes linen and towels are provided and included in the price displayed, pool towels can be provided for an extra amount.
Is the central heating included in the price?
No, the central heating is charged on consumption when required.
Is there a swimming pool?
Yes, there is a 12 x 6 meter pool. It is open from mid May to end of September.
Is there a telephone, fax, email connection available?
There is a phone in the house to receive calls and to make local calls. Wi Fi connection is available in the villa for an extra cost per week, a laptop is also available for the guests use.
Are there local grocery stores?
Yes within 5 kilometers in Torrenieri
How far are the airports?
Florence 1 hour and 45 minutes, Pisa 2 hours and a half, Bologna 2 hours and a half, Rome 3 hours.
When do I get road directions?
Directions are provided with your final confirmation, after full payment is received.
Where do I find the directions?
The directions can be found as a link on your final confirmation email. They can also be accessed by logging into your booking details using your user email and password.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
