Casa Kiwi is a lovely villa, nestled in the Chianti hills with fantastic open views. It is a detached part of the hamlet Bricciano, situated a short distance from Barbischio, a small but pretty stone Chianti village and only a few minutes drive from Gaiole in Chianti, an idealic Chianti town.
The villa has pretty, well manicured terraced gardens in which lies a sparkling black lined pool. The 18 metre long pool is down several steps from the house and therefore not visible from the terrace and upper gardens. There are fantastic views from the pool over the valley and onto the Chianti hills beyond.
Casa Kiwi is reached down a gravel drive from the hamlet. Here there is a shaded parking area. The villa is accessed by crossing a large, shady terrace which is furnished with table and chairs for 6 people to dine al fresco. You enter the villa into the open plan kitchen-dining-living area.
The large spacious kitchen is perfect for your creative Italian cooking. To one side of the room is the kitchen area with a large stainless steel topped island with double sink and lots of work space. Along the far wall is further marble topped work space, a huge oven, 5 gas hobs and a large double door fridge/freezer.
The other side of the room has a big dining room table with 8 comfortable chairs and against the wall a double sofa. The room has several windows and glass doors which make it airy and luminious. Off this room is a bathroom with shower and laundry area.
Passing under an arch you access the comfortable lounge. The room is furnished with two double sofas and an armchair. There are also cushioned seats in the wall unit, which also houses a wide selection of books and CDs. To one side there is a TV with Sky Satelite service and DVD player. It is a bright room with two sets of sliding glass doors opening onto a waterproof covered furnished terrace with great views. On the other side of the room are more glass doors which open onto a small lawned garden with a well tended vegetable patch.
From the lounge, wide stairs take you to the first floor where there are three bedrooms and a bathroom. The first bedroom is with low twin beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is an airconditioning unit in the room, you pay for its use. From this room there is access to the back of the house where the car park is.
Off a small hall is the bathroom and two double bedrooms. The smaller of the double rooms also has external access. It has a large double bed, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe and a large mirror. The bathroom is accessed from the hall and has a large tub with shower.
The larger master bedroom has a window East and South, with views to the front of the house which overlook the valley to the village topped hills beyond. The room is furnished like the rest of the villa in pastel colours and has a comfortable double bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe.
This is a high quality, very well equipped family home.
A semi adopted cat occasionally comes by.
No pets allowed.
The owners live nearby, in the hamlet of Bricciano. They are from New Zealand, she is an artist and he runs Customwalks, a walking company. They will help with all your questions while respecting your privacy. They will only be on the villa grounds to maintain the garden and pool. It is not possible to see their villa from Casa Kiwi. They speak English, Italian, & French

The sparkling pool is lined in black to assist in keeping it warmer. The area is furnished with sunbeds and umbrellas.
It is 18x4 meters, and 1.40 meters deep. It's open from May to October.
The pool is located below Casa Kiwi. It's not possible to see it from the villa. There are appoximately 12 steps down to the pool from the garden around the villa. This secluded area is ideal to relax and enjoy the wonderful views of the Tuscan countryside infront of you.
Pool towels are provided.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
