Casa Sturchi

Casa Sturchi is set in a very peaceful location on the side of a hill with fantastic views over the surrounding Tuscan countryside, and both the Etruscan Town of Cacciano and the medieval town of Civitella in Val di Chiana. The villa was originally a stable, but has been converted in a very sympathetic manner creating a very comfortable place to stay.
A short walk through a large olive grove which provides complete privacy takes you to the swimming pool which is shared with another villa on the property, Villa Sturchi. Surrounded by cypress trees the pool overlooks the valley below which is dotted with Tuscan villages.
The entrance to the villa opens directly into the kitchen/diner, which has fitted units along one wall with oven, separate gas hobs, dishwasher and large free standing fridge freezer. To one side is a traditional wooden dining table and chairs.
A door to the left of the kitchen leads to the spacious master bedroom which has great views over the valley. There is also a small sitting area with sofa and an ensuite bathroom with shower.
To the right of the kitchen a brick archway leads into the large living room with sofa, chairs and TV, there is also a small dining table and chairs. The large stone fireplace is the main feature of the room, you can grill meat over the fire and a barbeque is provided.
The room has a high beamed ceiling with an open staircase leading up to the mezzanine floor which overlooks the lounge and has a low queen size bed which would be suitable for children. Outside there is a large private covered terrace with stone built table and chairs. This is a great place to dine ‘al fresco’ or relax with a glass of the local wine.
The villa is set in beautiful grounds planted with Mediterranean trees and shrubs and surrounded by olive groves. Located behind the pool is a full size tennis court which also has a basketball net. Off to the right from the lounge is a further bathroom with shower and the second bedroom which also has a double bed and doors out to the garden and terrace.
A private spacious villa in a peaceful location with fantastic views over the surrounding Tuscan countryside, perfect for large families or groups wishing to holiday together but still have their own privacy.
At the property there is a ping pong table and tennis court.

Pool Info
The pool is located approximately 50 metres from the house and has a paved surround furnished with sun loungers and umbrellas. You can also relax in one of the several hammocks hung in the olive trees next to the pool. At one end of the pool is a covered gazebo which provides shade for a table tennis table. The pool is shared with guests of Villa Sturchi also located on the property. Between Casa Sturchi and the pool there is an olive grove which provides the villa with complete privacy.
The swimming pool is rectangular in shape and measures 14 metres by 7 metres and has internal steps leading down into the refreshing water at one end, and ladder access at the other. The maximum depth is 1.5 metres. Sitting around the pool you are surrounded by olive groves and cypress trees and have wonderful views across the valley. The pool is open from mid May until mid October. Pool Towels are provided.
Nearest town
The closest village for shopping is Pieve a Presciano where there is a shop and restaurant. This village is approximately 7km away. Closer to the villa there is a good restaurant which is 3km away, the restaurant is called Dei Laghi. Larger towns in the area are Montevarchi and Arezzo. At Badia Agnano, 4km away, there is a grocery shop.

Was waren die Highlights Ihres Urlaubs? Die einsame Lage des Hauses, absolut ruhig auf einem Hügel, die wunderbare Landschaft, sowie die Größe des Anwesens! Hervorragend!
Wie war Ihr Gesamteindruck von der Unterbringung? Sehr gut! Wir wurden bei unserer Ankunft positiv überrascht!
Gab es unangenehme Überraschungen? Die "Naturstrasse in gutem Zustand" wie es in der Beschreibung steht, war leider ein ziemlich holpriger, steiler Feldweg der durch die heftigen Regenfälle der vergangenen Wochen ziemlich ausgespült war. MIt einem normalen Auto (kein Jeep o.ä.) war es jedesmal ein abenteuerliches Unterfangen! Mit ein bisschen Übung gelang uns aber auch das ohne größere Probleme. Allerdings könnte ich mir vorstellen, dass es mit einem Auto dass nicht soviel Bodenfreiheit hat wie unseres unmöglich wird, zum Haus zu gelangen

We will be keeping it our secret ha!ha!. Yes we will reccommend it to people who we know would appreciate it.
We tried a number of the restaurants you recommended and they were great.
Paula and Roberto were wonderful hosts and where would we be without Baltasar and his 2 dogs and cat who joined us for breakfast each morning. As we have dogs ourselves it was like home from home.
We will be back just do not know when.

Surprises - only that the accommodation and location exceeded our expectations.

The accommodation in Casa Sturchi was well described on the website, and if anything it was more spacious than we had expected. It is an excellent conversion of a farm building, with very good bathrooms, as well as very good sized bedrooms. Although it is quite simply furnished, it has plenty of style and is very comfortable. Beds were very good for doubles! and linen also very good. Swimming pool was also excellent and of a very good size.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
