Capanna Vertine at Castello Vertine

Capanna Vertine is a typical stone Tuscan barn converted into a pretty villa on two floors. It's nestled amongst the shady pine and oak tress of the park of Castello Vertine.
Stone steps lead to the wooden front door on the ground floor. These steps also continue up to the upper stone terrace which has access to the first floor and sleeping area. The ground floor has a wonderfully spacious room which is furnished with table and chairs for dining on one side. There is a double sofa with foot stools on the other side of the room and in a corner a fireplace for the cooler evenings.
Three steps lead up to the kitchen, which is fully furnished with gas hobs, fridge with freezer and oven. Against one wall is a small breakfast table. A door leads out into the garden and furnished terrace. To the other side of the floor is a large bathroom with open shower.
From the lounge narrow spiral stairs lead to the first floor. This floor is a large, bright bedroom with small sitting area on one side. The room is furnished with a double bed, wardrobe, double sofa and writing table. A small bathroom with shower completes the floor. Three steps lead out to the upper terrace.
A wonderfully romantic cottage on a pretty property in a quiet hamlet.
There is no fence around the cottage.
Internet WI-FI available in the villa for free. Please bring your own laptop.

Capanna Vertine at Castello Vertine

Vertine is a lovely stone hamlet in the heart of the Chianti. It has a little café and there are two typical Tuscan castles, one of these is the property Castello Vertine. Which is composed of a tower villa that houses a 5 bedroom B&B and the owner, and a little barn.
There is a pretty pool which has fantastic views of the Tuscany countryside. It is at a lower level than the buildings. It's surrounded by a lovely paved area dotted with sun-beds and shade is provided from the many trees nearby.
The property is completed with a wonderful shady park ideal for relaxing during the hot sunny Tuscan days. In the park there are picnic tables and many areas to relax under the pine and oak trees.
Pool Info
The pool is located at a lower level than the buildings of Vertine. It is a lovely irregular shaped pool surrounded but stone paving and stone steps lead up to the communal gardens and the houses. In one corner of the pool there is a pretty waterfall feature providing a lovely sound to relax to while soaking up the amazing views from the pool area.
Surrounding the pool are several wooden sun-beds to enjoy the warm Tuscan sun. Radda in Chianti can be admired across the hills dotted with vineyards, forests and olive groves.
The pool is 16x8 metres in an irregular shape with metal steps to enter on one side. It is 1.2 to 3 metres deep. It's open from May to September.
Nearest town
Vertine is a little hamlet in which there is a small café. Gaiole in Chianti is 2km away and has all amenities, such as shops, banks, post office, doctors office and many restaurants.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
