Laying on top of a hill in the heart of the Chianti countryside, the private cottage of Fienile di Villole enjoys open views over one of Tuscany’s most prestigious regions, the Chianti. Following its restoration, the old stone hay barn provides a rare opportunity to stay in a completely private cottage with a private pool.
Located only about 11km from the wine town of Castellina in Chianti you don't have far to go to find a typical Chianti town, the nearest restaurant is about 5km and specialises in the famous Tuscan grill.
The cottage opens into a bright living room with high ceilings of wooden beams and rustic terracotta tiles lending a cool and elegant feeling to the cottage. There is a TV with DVD player and a small collection of DVD's, the TV does not pick up any channels.
There is a large well-fitted kitchen and dining area, the window here provides a perfect backdrop and cooling breeze.
From the kitchen a door leads to the conservatory where you can enjoy a meal while admiring the view. Note: It was not possible to fit a dishwasher in this house.
There is one bedroom and one bathroom with bath tub and shower fittings on the ground floor. The bedroom has a Queen size double bed, ample wardrobe space and dressing table. A window offers views to the East.
Stairs take you from the living area to the first floor, there is a balcony with a small library.

With so many of Tuscany’s most famous sights close by - Florence, Siena and San Gimignano are all within easy reach - you may prefer to dine on the huge terrace to the side of the cottage and enjoy the views across the Chianti Classico vineyards.
If, on the other hand, you have relaxed by the pool all day, or perhaps enjoyed a walk in the countryside, the short trip to Castellina in the evening may be the perfect way to round off your day.
From the garden there is a fabulous 360 degree panorama of the surrounding countryside and the town of San Gimignano in the distance.
A Note from the Owner: It may be of interest to visitors arriving on Saturday that local wine (table wine, Chianti, Vin Santo, Grappa and Olive oil) can be obtained from La Croce cantina which is on the right about 100M off the Poggibonsi-Castellina road on the side road leading to Fienile di Villole. The cantina is open Monday to Saturday 08.00-12.30 and 14.30-19.00. The local wine may be found more interesting than supermarket wine and the table wines, both red and white, are superb value at E1.10-1.30/L if you take your own container (there are plastic bottles in the villa).
