Gelso 10 is a lovely ground floor villa located on a property a few minutes drive from Cortona. The villa is well positioned to visit both Tuscany and Umbria. There is a local pizzeria within walking distance.
The pool is located behind the villa across a well maintained lawn dotted with trees, a few steps away from the entrance to Gelso 10. The pool looks out across the grain fields to the back of the property.
Gelso 10 is composed of two independent apartments which intercommunicate and a separate suite for two people. On the property there is a separate large kitchen which has an oven, while the apartments do not. Also external to the apartment is a large dining room which can seat up to 24 people. Off the dining room is a little office which the owner uses.
The lovely little independent suite for 2 people is accessed directly from the garden, through double glass doors which provide the living area with plenty of light. The room is very characteristic with stone walls and terracotta tiled floors. It's furnished with a double sofa, large wooden dining table with 6 chairs and a kitchenette. The cooking area is excellent to prepare simple meals or breakfast, it has gas hobs and a small fridge with freezer section.
Passing through a door under a terracotta arch there is the large double bedroom, which also has access to the garden. It's furnished with large wardrobe with mirror and a chest of drawers. To the back of the room is an en-suite bathroom which has a single step into the shower area.
The first apartment is next to the suite. It's entered through double door from the garden, into a open plan living area composed of a kitchenette along one wall with gas hobs and a fridge with freezer compartment. In the centre of the room is a wooden dining table that seats 6 people and to the back of the room is a comfortable double sofa and TV.
Off this room there is a little hall which leads to a double bedroom and a bathroom with shower. The bedroom is furnished with a double iron bed which cannot be made into a twin, a large wardrobe and a wooden table.
To the right of the living area there is a second spacious double bedroom, furnished with large wardrobe, chest of drawers and a table with chair. There are doors that lead out into the garden and pool area. To the back of the room is a little area with a sofabed, ideal for children.
From this room, up two steps, there is the intercommunicating door which accesses the second apartment. This apartment also has a main entrance from the garden in front of the pool. The main door leads into a large, spacious and bright lounge with a terracotta floor and a typical Tuscan ceiling of terracotta tiles and wooden beams. The room is furnished with a dining table that can seat up to 6 people on one side, and two sitting areas. One has two comfortable armchairs while the other has a couple of armchairs and a double sofa.
To the back of the room is access to a big kitchen which has a working fireplace. It is furnished with gas hobs, fridge with freezer, and a wooden dining table with chairs. From the room there is a door leading out into the garden.
Passing through an arched door, to the right off the lounge is a large, long double bedroom. It has a double bed which cannot be made into a twin, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. There are doors out to the garden. En-suite to this bedroom is a big bathroom with shower.
Off the left of the lounge is a second bedroom. It's a long, thin room, simply furnished with two twin beds that can be put together to make a double. There is no wardrobe, however there are doors out to the garden and pool area. From this room is the intercommunicating door with the other apartment.
Although there are other apartments at Gelso only one is rented at a time, so the pool and property is private to Gelso 10.
The owner will be available to assist guests when needed.
A maximum of 1 pet at a time is allowed.
Gelso 10 is not far from a road, passing cars can be heard but it is not a noisy property.
There is a laundry room on the property.

Pool Info
The pool is located in the garden to the back of the villa. It's position provides it with privacy from the road. It looks out across the wheat fields that surround Il Gelso. Looking back over the villa there is a view of Cortona perched on the hill beyond.
The sparkling pool is surrounded by sun-beds and umbrellas. To one side trees provide shade from the warm Tuscan sun. There is a ladder to enter the pool.
The pool is 5x8 metres and 1.7 metres deep. It is open from May to September.

Nearest town
Cortona is about 2.5km away up a hill. Closer, about 2km away, there is the town Camucia which has a grocery shop, several restaurants and other amenities. There is also a pizzeria within walking distance of the villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
