This charming cottage is located in a village close to the town of Baschi in Umbria. It has two bedrooms, and there is one restaurant within walking distance. This would be ideal for couples wishing to holiday together and explore the area. The neighbouring house that can be seen in the photos belongs to the same owners who only use it for the odd weekend in low season, which means you would have complete privacy during your stay.
The large terrace has sun loungers and chairs to relax in, so that you can soak up the sun before cooling off in the refreshing water of your private hot tub. This is an ideal spot to unwind with a glass of the local wine.
The entrance to the cottage is via a flight of stone steps which leads up to the large part covered terrace in front of the property. The covered part of the terrace has a cooking area along the back wall with pizza oven, barbeque, sink and dining table with benches. A door on the left leads into a large storage room and also a bathroom with wc, basin and shower. After a day of visiting the sights relax in the hot tub with a glass of wine or soak up the sun on the sun loungers.
The front door opens directly into the open plan living area which is decorated in a country cottage style with cheerful red checked curtains and folk art hens dotted around.
Along one wall is the kitchen area with gas hobs, sink and large free standing fridge with freezer section, and an open fireplace on which you can cook. Please note that there is no conventional oven in this property. There are several chairs and benches to relax on as well as a wooden dining table and chairs. The CD, TV and DVD player are also located in this area.
The two bedrooms are off either side of the living area. The spacious master bedroom with attractive wrought iron bed is to the left and is next to the bathroom which has a shower, wc, bidet and basin with a lovely handmade tiled surround. The second bedroom also has a double bed and is located off to the right of the living space.
The cottage is situated in an ideal location for day excursions to Orvieto, Perugia and Rome.

There are two steps leading up to the hot tub which has a hydro massage option. The size of the tub is two and a half metres by two and a half metres and can comfortably accommodate four/six people.
Nearest town
The nearest town is Baschi, which is 6km away. Baschi has a typical Italian grocery shop, bank, a few restaurants, pharmacy, petrol station and church. Baschi is also famous for its artificial lake (Lago di Corbara) where you can fish for carp or watch the annual Tiber-Thames rowing regatta. Civtella del Lago is a pretty village 3Kms away.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
