Italy is a shopper’s paradise with its many small beautifully displayed and brightly lit shops. In the big towns you can spend a day window-shopping and admiring the many items that you can buy. In between the shops there are various cafes and ice cream parlours that have an incredible assortment of snacks and ice cream, all artistically laid out. In the smaller villages there are more traditional shops that offer a quaint setting and give you a good feel for the traditional Tuscany way of village life.

We have put together some of the main places where you can shop in the towns near our villas and private houses. These are just to give you an idea of what is available, in all locations there may be other shops that you will be able to explore and browse through. When shopping remember that most supermarkets do not accept credit cards.

The Palio

The Palio is the highlight of the Sienese calendar when everything stops and everyone descends upon the central square of Siena to witness the spectacular annual festival which dates back to Medieval times. The event takes place on 2 July and 16 August.
Casa Sisti is a wonderful hamlet which has nearby public transport links to take you to the centre of Siena to ensure you don’t miss a thing or have to worry about parking! There are 6 apartments at the hamlet sleeping between 2-4 people and a private house sleeping 8. Facilities include swimming pool, ping-pong tables, free internet access and hydromassage tub.
