Sant'Angelo Farmhouse

Sant'Angelo Farmhouse is located on the working Sant'Angelo farm which produces grains, honey and jams. It is a few kilometres from the village Poppi and the town Bibbiena, in the hills to the North East of Tuscany. This little explored area by tourists provides plenty of opportunities for sight seeing, relaxing and contact with the locals.
The Farmhouse is one of several buildings on the farm. It is lovely restored villa surrounded by a wonderfully manicured garden which is for it's private use. A short distance from the villa in the garden is the large pool surrounded by a wooden deck dotted with sun-beds.
The villa is divided into two individual apartments each with three bedrooms. Next to the pool is a pretty annex which has a kitchen and dining facilities for all guests to eat together. In the kitchen there is a wood burning pizza oven. Outside is a covered terrace with dining facilities and a couple comfortable sofas. Here there is also the barbeque and a bathroom with laundry facilities.
Inside the first apartment there is an open plan kitchen and dining room. The room has a large wooden table in the middle which can seat up to 8 people. To one side is a fireplace. In one corner is the cooking area which has a oven, gas hobs, dishwasher and fridge.
From this room there is access to a comfortable lounge furnished with a couple of sofas and TV. It has access to the garden and a bathroom. This bright room has terracotta floors and wooden beams on the ceiling.
From the kitchen stairs lead to the first floor where there are three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are with double beds and en-suite bathrooms with showers.
The third bedroom is a triple with three single beds. The floor is completed by a third bathroom with tub and handheld shower. The bedrooms are all with wooden floors and have plenty of light from the windows which overlook the surrounding countryside.
Inside the second apartment there is an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is equipped with oven, gas hobs, dishwasher and fridge. The wooden dining table is in the centre of the room while on the other side are two comfortable sofas around an open fireplace. The room is graced by the typical Tuscan terracotta vaulted ceiling.
From the kitchen area there is access to a small hall with a sofa and writing desk, from where the wooden stairs lead up to the first floor. There is a bathroom in this hall.
There are three bedrooms, two are doubles and one is a twin. All the rooms are tastefully furnished and have wooden floors.
One of the double rooms has an en-suite bathroom with shower while the other shares a bathroom with shower with the twin bedroom.
It is not possible to make the twin rooms into doubles in either part of the villa.
On the farm there is a large wellness centre which includes a Jacuzzi, sauna, vitality pool, heated salt pool, chromotherapy shower and relax centre. This centre is for the use of guests of the villas Sant'Angelo Farmhouse, Sant'Angelo Relais and a small bed and breakfast also on the farm. There is an extra cost for the use of the centre.
On the farm there is a lake for fishing (guest must bring their own equipment), tennis courts (bring your own equipment) and ping pong table (equipment supplied).
Within 6km there is the National Park 'Foreste Casentinesi'. The farm's vegetable garden is available for guest's use.
The two apartments make this villa ideal for families or groups of friends looking for privacy yet wishing to share a property with private pool.

Pool Info
The pool is located across a beautifully manicured lawn, a short distance from the main house. It is surrounded by a wooden sun deck dotted with enough sun-beds, deck chairs and umbrellas for 13 people to enjoy the warm Tuscan sun.
The pool is surrounded by indigenous plants and flowers that provide a wonderful perfume while bathing. From this area there are pretty views across the fields that surround the farmhouse, on to the Tuscan hills beyond.
The pool is 12x6 meters and 1.5 meters deep. It's open from mid-mid-April to October.

Nearest town
The village Poppi is only 3km away, while the larger town Bibbiena is 7km away. Both of these have grocery shops and several restaurants. Amenities such as banks, post office, pharmacy and doctors can be found in both locations.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
