Villa Alessandra

Villa Alessandra is a semi-detached villa about 1km from the town
Cavriglia. This lovely Tuscan villa has been built with all the
typical Tuscan characteristics and it is perfect for families with
children.
The large, extremely well maintained garden has a private tennis court
and large pool with excellent views. The garden is dotted with trees
providing plenty of shade for the warmer days. It has views up the
valley towards Florence on one side while the other side looks out
towards Arezzo, with the mountains in the background.
Villa Alessandra is split level. The front of the villa has a pretty little furnished terrace which has fantastic views across the fields and towards Florence. The entrance is through a small courtyard.
On entering the living area is open with arches between the various parts. On one side is a small dining area with a wooden table and chairs for 4 people. Passing under an arch there is the lounge area which is furnished with a leather sofa, a couple of armchairs and several tables. This part of the room has a large fireplace with a glass front, ideal for cooler Tuscan evenings. From this side of the house there are three double wood and glass doors providing plenty of light and access to the garden.
Through another arch there is a larger dining area which has direct access to the kitchen. This area is furnished with a big table that has the typical Tuscan benches. Double doors lead from here to the front garden.
Through a door off the main dining room there is the spacious kitchen. It is well equipped with a large oven, gas hobs, fridge with freezer. In the centre of the room is a wooden table with 4 chairs. To one side, down some steps there is a storeroom with laundry facilities and an extra fridge/freezer. Double doors from the kitchen provide access to the furnished terrace with stone barbeque.
The bedrooms are all on the first floor. At the top of the stairs there is a small landing, off which there is a corridor to the right. From here there is access to two of the bedrooms. The first is a double bedroom which cannot be made into a twin. This room is furnished with a dresser and wardrobe, double doors open onto a Juliette balcony which looks out to the front of the villa. On one side of the bedroom is a small room with bunk beds, only suitable for young children. This leads into the en-suite bathroom with shower.
At the end of the corridor there is a double bedroom which has access to the upper garden and pool area. The room is furnished with a wardrobe and dresser. This room can be made into a twin on request when booking.
Directly off the landing there is a triple bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. In the spacious room is a chest of drawers with mirror, large wardrobe and a sturdy cot. The windows look out to the back gardens of the villa. Next to this rooms is a bathroom with large hydromassage bath and handheld shower.
The fourth bedroom is also accessed from the landing. This is also a spacious triple bedroom with a traditional Tuscan wooden double bed and a simple single bed. There is a wardrobe and chest of drawers. A small en-suite bathroom with shower completes this bedroom.
The neighbouring villa is also rented to holidaymakers. Although Villa Alessandra is semi-detached there is privacy provided by a high hedge between the two properties.
The owners take great care of the villa and will be present to maintain the gardens, pool and answer any questions, although they only speak Italian.

Pool Info
The pool is a few steps away from the villa. It is surrounded by a
lovely lawn dotted with trees for shade. From this part of the garden
there are wonderful open views of the Valdarno valley and mountains
beyond.
On the terracotta paved deck around the pool there are several sun-
beds to enjoy the warm Tuscan sun. There are roman steps entering the
pool. It is 12x6 metres and 2.1 metres deep. It's open from April to
October.

Also in the garden is a full size tennis court, which also has good quality basketball nets and a volleyball net. Within walking distance to the villa there is a golf driving range.
Nearest town
Cavriglia is approximately 1km from the villa. Here there is a choice
of shops and restaurants. Further away is Montevarchi which has all
amenities including a very large hypermarket.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
